Hi, I’m Maria Ann Geffers, an educator and homeschool educational consultant with more than 30 years of experience helping children and families find an educational path that truly fits.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with students across a wide range of abilities, learning styles, personalities, and educational needs. I’ve taught in the classroom, worked with gifted learners, evaluated homeschool students, designed curriculum, and guided families from the early years through high school and beyond.
Over the years, one simple truth has shaped the way I approach education:
Know the Child. The Education Will Follow.
I believe successful homeschooling begins not with finding the “perfect” curriculum, but with understanding the child—their strengths, challenges, interests, pace, personality, and the way they learn best.
My Story
My journey in education began long before Homeschool Success with Maria. For more than 30 years, I have worked with children and families as a classroom teacher, homeschool evaluator, curriculum designer, educational consultant, and coach. Along the way, I learned something that has shaped nearly everything I do: children may be sitting in the same classroom, using the same curriculum, and hearing the same lesson—but they are not having the same educational experience.
I saw that truth in my own family as well. My three children did not learn in the same way or travel the same educational path. One needed greater challenge and acceleration. Another benefited from more individualized, one-on-one support. Another followed a more traditional academic path and eventually earned a doctorate. Being their mother reinforced what years in education had already begun to teach me: there is no single definition of educational success.
That understanding became the foundation of my work with homeschool families. I don't begin by asking, “Which curriculum should you use?” I begin by asking, “Who is this child?” What are their strengths? Where are they struggling? What interests them? How do they think, process information, and express what they know?
Those questions often reveal possibilities that a curriculum catalog never could.
Today, Homeschool Success with Maria brings those years of experience together to help families move from uncertainty and guesswork toward greater clarity, calm, and confidence. Whether I am helping a parent evaluate curriculum, understand a gifted learner, plan the high school years, or think about what comes next, the starting point remains the same:

My Philosophy
I believe successful homeschooling begins with understanding the child before choosing the curriculum. Every child brings a unique combination of strengths, challenges, interests, personality, pace, and potential to learning. Education works best when those differences are recognized rather than forced into a predetermined mold.
My approach is grounded in a simple principle: Know the Child. The Education Will Follow. When parents understand the learner in front of them, curriculum becomes a tool rather than the driver. Decisions become clearer, adjustments become more purposeful, and families gain the confidence to create an education that genuinely fits.
Faith, family, curiosity, and individual potential all have a place in that process. The goal is not to create a perfect homeschool. It is to help each child grow into a capable, confident young person prepared for the path ahead.

My mission is to help families create an education that recognizes the whole child—who they are today, how they learn, where they are growing, and who they are becoming. Through thoughtful educational guidance, curriculum planning, evaluation, and family support, I help parents move forward with greater clarity, calm, and confidence.
I believe education should honor both the individuality of the child and the values of the family. Parents deserve knowledgeable guidance without judgment, children deserve to be understood before they are measured, and every family deserves the freedom to build an educational path that reflects their goals and circumstances.
At the heart of my work are faith, family, educational excellence, individual potential, and purpose. These values guide not only what I teach, but how I serve.
